Description

These festive Christmas Wreath Cookies are a fun and easy no-bake treat perfect for holiday celebrations. Made with buttery melted marshmallows mixed with crispy cornflakes and tinted green with food coloring, they are shaped into wreaths and decorated with bright red candies for a charming seasonal look.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
  • 30 large marshmallows
  • 6 drops green gel food coloring or 1 and 1/4 teaspoons liquid green food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 cups cornflakes

Decoration

  • 1 bottle of red hot candies or 1/2 cup red candy coated chocolates such as mini M&M’s

Other

  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Prepare the workspace: Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy.
  2. Melt butter and marshmallows: Place the butter and marshmallows in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Add flavor and color: Stir in the green food coloring and vanilla extract until the marshmallow mixture is smooth and evenly tinted a festive green.
  4. Combine with cornflakes: Gently fold the cornflakes into the marshmallow mixture, ensuring each flake is evenly coated without breaking the cereal too much.
  5. Shape the wreaths: Grease a 1/4 cup measuring cup with cooking spray. Pack the mixture firmly into the cup, then turn it out onto the prepared sheet pan. Using damp or cooking spray-coated fingers, make a hole in the center of each mound to create a wreath shape.
  6. Decorate: Press red candies or red candy-coated chocolates onto the wreath to mimic holly berries, adding a festive touch.
  7. Cool and set: Allow the wreaths to cool completely at room temperature until firm enough to handle, then serve and enjoy.

Notes

  • Using damp fingers or coated with cooking spray to shape the wreath holes prevents sticking and makes shaping easier.
  • You can substitute the red candies with raisins or cranberries for a healthier decoration.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
  • These wreath cookies are gluten-free if you use gluten-free cornflakes.
