Ingredients for Chicken Jalfrezi:
- 500g chicken breast, boneless and skinless, cut into cubes
- 1 medium green bell pepper, cut into cubes
- 1 medium red bell pepper, cut into cubes
- 1 medium onion, cut into cubes
- 1 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp sunflower oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger, finely chopped
- 1 large tomato, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 2 fresh green chilies, slit
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup warm water
Dry Spices:
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves, optional)
Instructions
- Saute Bell Peppers: Heat 1 tsp oil in a pot, saute green and red bell peppers with onion cubes. Set aside.
- Cook Chicken: In the same pot, heat 1 tbsp oil, saute chicken with spices until cooked. Set aside.
- Prepare Sauce: Heat remaining oil and butter, saute onion, garlic, ginger. Add dry spices, then tomatoes and ketchup.
- Finish Dish: Add chicken, water, chilies, sauteed veggies. Simmer until chicken is tender. Finish with garam masala, coriander, kasuri methi.
