Description

This simple guacamole recipe is a fresh and creamy avocado dip perfect for any occasion. Made with ripe avocados, red onion, jalapeno, Roma tomatoes, cilantro, lime juice, and a touch of salt, it delivers a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Easy to prepare in under 20 minutes, this guacamole is ideal as a snack, appetizer, or accompaniment to Mexican dishes.

Ingredients

Scale

Guacamole Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • ½ cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and finely diced
  • ½ cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Juice of 1 lime (fresh only)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Avocados: Slice the avocados in half and remove the pits. Scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl. Using a potato masher or a fork, mash the avocado to your preferred consistency, whether chunky or smooth.
  2. Add Vegetables and Seasoning: Add the finely chopped red onion, seeded and chopped jalapeno, seeded and diced Roma tomatoes, chopped cilantro, and salt to the mashed avocado.
  3. Mix and Flavor: Pour in the fresh lime juice and thoroughly mix all the ingredients together to combine the flavors evenly.
  4. Serve: Serve the guacamole immediately with tortilla chips, tacos, or as a fresh condiment for your favorite dishes.

Notes

  • Ensure avocados are perfectly ripe with no bruises; scoop out any brown spots if present.
  • Remove the seeds and watery flesh from tomatoes before dicing to prevent excess moisture.
  • A potato masher makes mashing avocados quicker, but a fork or pastry cutter works well too.
  • Always use fresh lime juice, as bottled lime juice will not provide the same flavor.
  • Red onion is preferred, but white onion can be used as a substitute.
  • Cilantro is traditional; if disliked, substitute with flat parsley for a milder flavor.
  • If jalapeno is unavailable, serrano peppers are a great alternative.
  • Add minced garlic optionally for extra depth of flavor.
