Description

This Gluten-Free Christmas Chex Mix is a festive, crunchy snack mix coated in creamy white chocolate and studded with colorful red and green M&Ms. It’s perfect for holiday gatherings, combining the crunch of Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Cheerios, gluten-free pretzels, and salted peanuts, all enveloped in a sweet, vanilla almond bark coating. Easy to prepare and visually delightful with optional sprinkles and extra candy, this mix is a seasonal treat suitable for gluten-sensitive snackers.

Ingredients

Scale

For The Christmas Chex Mix:

  • 2 cups Rice Chex Cereal
  • 2 cups Corn Chex Cereal
  • 1 ½ cups Cheerios Cereal
  • 2 ½ cups Gluten-Free Pretzels (preferably twists)
  • 1 cup Salted Peanuts (just salted, not seasoned)
  • 1 cup Red & Green M&Ms Candy (milk chocolate or peanut butter)
  • 16 oz. Vanilla Almond Bark White Candy Melts or White Chocolate Chips

Optional To Decorate:

  • 1-2 Tablespoons red and green sprinkles (nonpareils or jimmies)
  • Flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Station: Spread out a few sheets of parchment paper on a cookie sheet or countertop to create a stable surface for the mixture to cool and set.
  2. Combine The Christmas Chex Mix Ingredients: Set aside half of the M&Ms for decoration. In a very large bowl, mix the Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Cheerios, gluten-free pretzels, half of the M&Ms, and the salted peanuts thoroughly.
  3. Melt The White Chocolate Coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the vanilla almond bark in intervals of 20-30 seconds, stirring well after each until smooth and lump-free. Alternatively, melt gently in a double boiler on the stovetop.
  4. Drizzle & Stir: Quickly pour the melted almond bark over the cereal mixture and stir swiftly to evenly coat all ingredients, working fast to prevent the coating from hardening prematurely.
  5. Spread Out, Sprinkle & Cool: Transfer the coated mixture onto prepared parchment paper. Immediately sprinkle the reserved M&Ms and optional red and green sprinkles on top. Allow the mixture to cool and set, forming clusters of varying sizes.
  6. Serve & Store: Once fully set, serve immediately or store the Christmas Chex Mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.

Notes

  • Hold back a portion of the M&Ms to sprinkle on after coating for a more vibrant visual contrast.
  • Add a few festive sprinkles such as nonpareils or jimmies for a cute decorative touch without altering flavor.
  • Optionally, dip some pretzels separately into melted almond bark and decorate with sprinkles for standout pieces before mixing the rest.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain freshness up to one week.
