Description

Indulge in a delightful breakfast treat with this Hawaiian Roll French Toast recipe. Sweet Hawaiian rolls are transformed into a decadent French toast that is perfect for a weekend brunch or a special morning meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Rolls:

  • 1 (12 pack) of Kings sweet Hawaiian Rolls

Egg Mixture:

  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup half and half (or whole milk if that’s all you have)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 small pinch salt

Other:

  • 4 tablespoons butter (salted or unsalted is fine)
  • Powdered sugar, fresh fruit, and syrup for topping

Instructions

  1. Egg Mixture: Crack your eggs into a large bowl, then add the half and half. Whisk until they are fully combined and you no longer see bits of egg whites. Add in the vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and salt and whisk again.
  2. Prepping Rolls: Take a toothpick or skewer and poke a few holes in the bottom of each roll so the egg mixture can soak in better. Drop a few rolls at a time in the egg mixture and allow to soak for about 30 seconds.
  3. Cooking: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Add about 2 tablespoons of butter to the pan and allow it to melt. Cook soaked rolls on each side until golden brown.
  4. Serving: Once all the rolls are cooked, serve immediately, topped with powdered sugar, fresh fruit, and syrup. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Be cautious not to let the rolls soak too long in the egg mixture to avoid them becoming too mushy.
  • Cook the rolls in batches to ensure even cooking.
  • Consider serving with crispy bacon as a savory contrast to the sweet French toast.
