Description

These Nutella Banana Mummy Rolls are a fun and festive treat perfect for Halloween or any occasion that calls for a playful dessert. Using crescent roll dough, creamy Nutella, and fresh banana slices, these mummy-shaped pastries are baked until golden and finished with a sweet powdered sugar glaze and cute candy eyes for an irresistibly spooky appearance.

Ingredients

Scale

Mummy Rolls

  • 1 package Pillsbury Crescent sheets (makes about 6 mummy rolls)
  • 1 small container Nutella (approximately 12 tablespoons)
  • 2-3 bananas, sliced

Glaze

  • ½ cup heaping powdered sugar
  • milk or water, enough to form a glaze (about 1-2 tablespoons)
  • candy eyes (optional, can substitute with mini chocolate chips or mini M&Ms)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough and slice: Roll out the crescent sheet to approximately 10-11 by 6-8 inches. Cut the dough into 6 equal squares. Lightly score each square vertically into 3 equal sections without cutting through the dough.
  2. Create strips: Using a knife, cut horizontal strips about ¼ inch wide down both side sections of each square, creating the ‘bandages’ for your mummies.
  3. Fill with Nutella and banana: Spoon about two tablespoons of Nutella down the middle section of each square, leaving about ½ inch clear at the top and bottom. Place slices of banana on top of the Nutella.
  4. Form the mummies: Fold the right two cut strips over the ‘head’ section, then alternate folding strips from right to left, leaving a small area uncovered in the middle for the eyes.
  5. Bake: Place the mummy rolls on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 375℉ (190℃) for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Cool: Remove mummies from the oven and allow to cool to room temperature.
  7. Prepare glaze: Mix powdered sugar with enough milk or water to create a smooth glaze. Drizzle lightly over the cooled mummy rolls.
  8. Decorate: Add candy eyes to each mummy while the glaze is still wet so they stick. Allow glaze to dry before serving.

Notes

  • Nutritional information is calculated per roll assuming two tablespoons of Nutella per serving.
  • You can substitute candy eyes with mini chocolate chips or mini M&Ms for decorating.
  • Ensure the glaze is not too runny to prevent it from dripping off the rolls.
  • Best served after glaze has dried completely to maintain decoration.
  • Adjust baking time slightly if using a convection oven to prevent overbrowning.
