Description

These adorable Owl Brownies are a fun and festive treat perfect for parties or Halloween. Made from a classic fudge brownie base, they’re decorated with colorful candies including peach rings, candy eyeballs, candy corn, and peanut butter cups to create whimsical owl faces. Easy to prepare and irresistibly delicious, these brownies bring both charm and chocolatey goodness to your dessert table.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Batter

  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Fudge Brownie Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil, and eggs as called for on brownie mix box

Frosting and Decorations

  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting
  • 48 gummy peach ring candies
  • 48 Betty Crocker™ Candy Shop candy eyeballs
  • 24 pieces candy corn
  • 12 Reese’s Minis peanut butter cups (from 8-oz bag), cut into quarters

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan and Batter: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a 13×9-inch baking pan with foil, leaving an overhang of about 2 inches on the sides to easily lift the brownies later. Spray the foil with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Prepare the brownie batter according to the instructions on the brownie mix box using the required amounts of water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  2. Bake the Brownies: Bake the brownies in the preheated oven for 22 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted about 2 inches from the side of the pan comes out clean. Remove the pan from the oven and transfer it onto a cooling rack. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan for about 1 hour to ensure they set properly.
  3. Remove and Frost: Once cooled, use the foil overhang to gently lift the brownies out of the pan onto a flat surface. Spread the 16 oz tub of chocolate frosting evenly over the entire brownie slab, covering the top completely for a smooth surface.
  4. Cut the Brownies: Using a sharp knife, cut the frosted brownie slab into 6 rows by 4 rows, yielding 24 individual square brownies.
  5. Decorate the Owls: To create the owl faces, place two peach ring candies on each brownie to form the eyes. In the center of each peach ring, stick two candy eyeballs. Use one piece of candy corn on each brownie to form the nose. Finally, place two peanut butter cup quarters, cut side down, at the top of each brownie to simulate the owl’s eyebrows.

Notes

  • Peach rings can be slightly sticky; pressing them gently into the frosting will help them adhere better.
  • Letting the brownies cool completely before frosting ensures a smoother finish and prevents melting.
  • For easier cutting, chill the frosted brownies for 30 minutes before slicing.
  • These brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for up to a week.
  • To make these brownies nut-free, substitute the peanut butter cups with a similar size nut-free candy.
