Instructions

  1. Prepare Mini Marshmallows: Begin by cutting the mini marshmallows in half to make them easier to place on the cupcakes without interrupting your decorating flow.
  2. Fill and Attach Piping Bag: Attach the Wilton #32 decorating tip to your disposable frosting bag and fill the bag with red frosting. If you don’t have tip #32, a regular round tip or no tip will also work since the frosting will be piled up.
  3. Create Frosting Base Ring: Pipe a circle of red frosting around the top edge of each cupcake to form the base of Santa’s hat.
  4. Place Marshmallows Around Base: Arrange the halved mini marshmallows around the frosting ring to imitate the fluffy white trim of Santa’s hat.
  5. Fill and Build Up the Hat: Fill the center of the marshmallow circle with red frosting, then continue piping the frosting in a spiraling motion upward to create the cone shape of the Santa hat.
  6. Add Hat Topper: Finish the hat by placing a single halved mini marshmallow at the peak as the pom-pom.
  7. Chill to Set: Place the decorated cupcakes in the refrigerator for a few minutes to allow the frosting to firm up slightly before serving.
