Description

A comforting and aromatic spiced apple tea recipe that combines the richness of black tea with the sweetness of apples and warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Perfect for a cozy evening or a delightful afternoon break.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Spiced Apple Tea:

  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 Black tea bags or 1 tbsp loose leaf black tea strong and robust, like Assam or Ceylon
  • 1 Apple, thinly sliced (or 1/4 cup dried apple)
  • 2 Cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 tsp Ground nutmeg (or a small pinch of freshly grated nutmeg)
  • 1 Star anise pod (optional)
  • Maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Add the apple slices, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, and star anise pod (if using) into a saucepan with boiling water and reduce the heat to a simmer. Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse. After simmering, add the black tea to the saucepan. Let the tea steep in the simmering water for 3-5 minutes, depending on your desired strength.
  2. Remove the tea bags or strain the loose tea, and also strain the apple slices, cinnamon sticks, and star anise. Pour the tea into your favorite cups. If desired, add maple syrup or your preferred sweetener to taste. Enjoy!
